(ConcreteProducts.com) – Governor John Hickenlooper has proclaimed April 29 as Concrete Day in the state of Colorado, recognizing “the industry as important to further development in our state and the hard work, dedication, and efficiency of its employees … The industry is an important contributor to Colorado’s infrastructure and economy. We look forward to celebrating Concrete Day at the Capitol every year.”

The governor will briefly address the event, to be staged from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at southeast corner of the Capitol grounds in downtown Denver. Officials from the American Concrete Pipe Association, Colorado Ready Mixed Concrete Association, American Concrete Pavement Association–Colorado/Wyoming Chapter, and Portland Cement Association–Rocky Mountain Region will host a picnic lunch for Colorado legislators and their staff.

The allied groups aim to acknowledge state lawmakers’ work and raise awareness of the concrete industry’s importance to economic growth and sustainable development practices. “The industry’s contribution to transportation, infrastructure, and residential building is vital to Colorado’s economy,” affirms Representative John Becker (R-HD 65), crediting concrete industry professionals’ role “in building a stronger state.”
